Hey there, fellas! Today, I was reading a post on how to syndicate and promote a blog. It takes time and effort to write a post, mark it with the appropriate category, provide proper links, tag the post properly and then add it to Google’s Index using the webmaster tools. We do this so that we can show the world our writing skills and the subjects that we are good at. When we do all this and we do not promote the blog or syndicate it, people won’t be able to get to us. So, I did a quick search on how to promote the blog to greater audience and I found out this link. This was just an awesome post and it helped me kick start the promotion of my blog.
There are so many steps given in that link. I followed every step – one by one and I signed up for IFTTT as mentioned. As soon as I started using it, it was a piece of cake. It allows syndication between so many sites and I have never seen such a service offered free of charge before. I was able to set up syndication for every WordPress post to a dozen of other sites (Of course, you need to sign up for those sites too) but it is worth the time and effort. It took most of my evening to setup everything correctly but this helps you to spread your posts to a larger set of audience. Our aim is not to get a large set of audience and show the screen shots in social media and boast about it but the true intent is if we present our work to a large audience, they will provide us with valuable feedback (which is the aorta for any blogger) and we can also grab some positive criticism. This way, we’ll know what the audience expect and where we are lacking. This greatly helps us improve our writing and presentation skills.
Back to the IFTTT ~ The best thing is you need to “create a recipe” and save it – Done! After this, every time you post, your posts are automatically shared with the services that you have connected. Lets say you want your WordPress posts to be shown on Instapaper, Evernote and App.Net sites. You don’t have to post in each site manually, the recipe does everything for you. It follows the “If …. Then” paradigm. So, the services would be connected like this :
The screen shot above shows my WordPress blog syndicated with Evernote, Diigo and Box. This means that whenever I hit the publish button on my WordPress blog, my posts will be circulated to all these sites. The screenshot shows only three sites but I have connected it with more than a dozen other sites. This is really helpful in increasing the website traffic and gaining more audience. Please do not forget to read the post in the Technorati Blog. Hope this helps! Good night 🙂 .
